Bill Tsakalos
Bill is passionate about delivering quality design to our cities and has a personal motivation in making places which resonate with locals and visitors alike. His project work in Blacktown is focused on expressing the cultural diversity of its residents and addressing the many needs, health and well-being issues faced by Western Sydney to make it a better place. He has both public and private sector experience in large, complex urban design and architectural projects in Australia, USA, Europe and the Middle East. His projects span infrastructure; public space; special-purpose buildings; and commercial and residential high-rise buildings. He moves easily between design, design management and delivery roles using skills and experience to enhance outcomes. Bill has chaired and been a jury member for the Australian Institute of Architects Awards in the categories; Public Architecture, Educational Architecture, Houses and Enduring Architecture. He is a member of the NSW State Design Review Panel for State Significant Development and Design Review Panels for Transport for NSW and Sydney Olympic Park. Blacktown City Council was awarded the NSW Australian Institute of Architect’s Presidents Award in 2023 for its $275m Transformational Projects Program delivered under his stewardship.
