Our Overseas Manager Exchange to New Zealand is in partnership with Taituara – Local Government Professionals Aotearoa.
Inclusions:
- Flights to New Zealand
- Home hosted accommodation with a contact from Taituara
- A registration to the Taituara Conference in Hastings, New Zealand on the 23 – 24 November 2023*
- A program developed in collaboration with your Exchange Partner which will include visits to New Zealand councils

Expectation of the recipient:
The Overseas Manager Exchange is based on a reciprocal arrangement and the recipient of this scholarship will be required to host the incoming manager when they visit Sydney and attend our Local Government Conference on the 31 May - 1 June 2023 as their host. Registration to this conference is not included in the exchange program.
After the exchange, we ask that you share your experience in the form of a report and provide us with approximately 10 photographs to use for marketing purposes. For examples on past exchanges, please see here.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
You are eligible to apply if:
- You are an individual* member of LG Professionals, NSW and have been for at least 12 months
- You are a permanent employee of a council in NSW
- You are serious and motivated to enhance your professional development in local government
- You are available to attend our Local Government Conference on 31 May - 1 June 2023
- You are available to travel to New Zealand for the Taituara Conference on 23 - 24 November 2023 (plus additional days for council visits). Please note event dates are subject to change
Selection is based on your professional experience and interests, as well as your personal motivation and objectives for attending the exchange. Preference for this exchange is given to an up and coming professional (other than a General Manager).
