Why did you apply for the Dick Cahill Scholarship?

As someone who was new to the finance side of Local Government, I felt the conference would give me a good understanding of the key aspects of the area.  

Do you feel this scholarship helped with your professional development?

This conference gave me an opportunity to understand the complexity and challenges faced by Local Government moving forward. I have a better idea of skills areas I would like to develop and career opportunities I would like to pursue.

What have you enjoyed most about the Finance Conference?

I enjoyed the opportunity to meet people from different Councils and to better get to know the people within my own Council in a more informal setting. 

Was there a particular session you enjoyed the most?

The session I most enjoyed was the discussion from the three general managers. I found their discussion very insightful and particularly their thoughts on the challenges for local government in the future. 

Was there a particular speaker that you enjoyed listening to?

There was a speaker from the Commonwealth Bank who gave a very good presentation. It was very interesting understanding impacts of global trends in the context of our industry.  

What were your key takeaways from the Finance Conference?

My takeaways were understanding of expectations in coming years and industry in coming decades.
