This is an invaluable opportunity for anyone who works in the field of government finance. With sessions such as accounting, auditing, budgeting, debt management, economic development, pension and benefits, treasury and investment - there's something for everyone.

Conference Dates: 9 - 12 June 2024

AWARDED TO - Richard Sheridan, Director City Performance, Bayside Council

Scholarship includes:

  • Return economy flights to the conference location.
  • Four night's accommodation at the conference venue
  • Assistance with introductions to councils if you would like to extend your stay post conference.

The scholarship recipient is responsible for any additional travel or accommodation requirements pre and post conference. The scholarship does not include registration for preconference seminars.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be an LG Professionals, NSW individual member for a minimum of 12 months prior to applying.
  • Applicants must be directly employed in an NSW Council.

How to apply

  • Please click on the button below to complete an online scholarship application.
  • Applications must be received by 5pm on 26 January 2024.
  • Applicants may be required to sit an interview with members of the board to complete their application.
  • Applicants will be notified of their application status by 16 February 2024.

Expectations of the recipient:

It is expected that GFOA will offer a scholarship to one of their members to attend an LG Professionals, NSW Finance Conference. It is expected that the scholarship recipient will:

  • Attend the Finance Conference in December and introduce the incoming delegate to peers at the conference
  • Be available to assist the incoming delegate spending time at their council if required

The scholarship recipient will also be required to:

  • Write a report on their experience attending the GFOA Conference
  • Promote the scholarship on LinkedIn whilst attending the Conference

 

The total value of the scholarship is capped at $7000 to include airfare and accommodation.

Delegates are required to book and pay for their own airfare and accommodation, which is re-imbursed by the association upon receipt of invoices, to a maximum of $7000.

Should delegates wish to upgrade from standard economy seats, this is at their own expense and is not eligible for re-imbursement.

Delegates should arrange for their own travel insurance.
